Mission
The North Carolina Office of Research, Demonstrations and Rural Health Development works with local
and state leaders to design and implement strategies for improving health and dental care access for rural
residents. Our Medical Placement Services Staff provides recruitment assistance to rural and
underserved communities with NO PLACEMENT FEE.
Focus
Established in 1973, the North Carolina Office of Research, Demonstrations and Rural Health
Development has worked to improve primary health and dental care access to rural and underserved areas of the
state for more than twenty years. While our efforts have proven successful, we continue working
to strengthen primary care delivery systems in medically underserved areas of the State by:
- Increasing the number of primary care providers in rural and underserved areas.
- Assisting rural communities in defining their primary care needs.
- Providing community assessment and recruitment/retention training for recruitment sites
and community leaders involved in the recruitment process.
